By April 15, 2016, please propose a name of an IBHA member to run for one of the four open seats on the IBHA Board of Directors.  The proposal may include a brief statement about the potential nominee. When a name is posted, 10% of the IBHA membership must reply to the proposal with their endorsement by May 1, 2016 in order for that person to become a candidate.  To endorse a person, once a name is posted, please "reply" to that name and record your own as an endorser.

I would like to nominate Lucy Laffitte as a candidate for election to the board of IBHA. Lucy lives in Raleigh, NC. With a Ph.D. in natural resources, she has had a 35-year career as a science communicator and environmental educator. Lucy has belonged to IBHA since its inception and attended our conference in 2014, where I got to know her better. We have worked together on pieces for Origins, revealing that she is a clear thinker and an excellent editor. In addition to her scientific expertise, I believe she would bring good judgment, good humor, and deep commitment to the board. A longer bio about her is below---I hope that you will endorse her candidacy.

In October I have published the paper "Big History of Calcium, Life's actuating Element' in Origins. Lucy Lafitte has given a major support to improve the concept of the paper in line with Big History. It was a big challenge for me to fulfill her demands since human culture was not my expertise. I have learned about new fields of science and I am happy to have widen my horizon. It is the merit of Lucy that I could make this step. She convinced me that it is worthwhile to promote the whole story of Big History, in my case related to health, in education programs in my country The Netherlands. So I hope to  contribute a small stone at the work to implement Big History in the Dutch society.

Because of our correspondence about my paper I think that Lucy Lafitte may serve as an excellent member of the IBHA Board of Directors.
