    Hi everyone,

I'm reading through Christian's Big History textbook, and I'm kind of surprised at the tone of chapter 7, the spread of agrarian civilizations before the modern revolution. The author seems to be relishing the lust for power of the time. To my eye, there's a not so subtle celebrating, glorifying of the victors in the bloody quest to build empires. It seems to me, if you want to go ahead and allow that kind of value judgement, you could just as well tell that section of history as a cautionary tale of the horrors of human beings' will to dominate each other. I come from a natural sciences background so the lack of objectivity is glaring to me. Has anyone else noticed this? How does the field of history deal with this risk of bias in the teaching of history?
